Construction Registration of Tradesman (CoreTrade)
The Construction Registration of Tradesman (CoreTrade) is a registration scheme administrated by Building & Construction Authority (BCA) for skilled and experience workers specializing in specific construction trades.
This scheme was introduced to allow construction sector to build up its core group of competent & experienced workers in key construction trades to anchor and lead the construction trades, and raise its quality and productivity levels
There are 3 classes of CoreTrade personnel:
· Construction Tradesman: A worker who is skilled and engaged in a particular trade.
· Construction Foreman: A worker who supervises and co-ordinates a group of tradesmen in a particular trade.
· Construction Supervisor: A worker who oversees a particular class of construction works.
CoreTrade registration is valid for 2 years. To continuously upgrade the construction workforce to support improvement in productivity, quality and safety, all personnel registered under CoreTrade are required to attend Continuing Education and Training (CET) under their respective registered trade category to renew their registration.
The CET will be a half-day to 1 day course covering the latest codes and regulations, good practices, and demonstration of new methods, materials, tools and equipment relevant to the specific construction trades and/or areas of responsibility of the registered personnel.
